Tips on Shopping for Age-Appropriate Christmas Gifts for Babies and Toddlers
Age-Appropriate Christmas Gifts Are Always Appreciated
It's baby's first Christmas and everyone is overjoyed at the thought of buying Christmas gifts for the little one. The question is -- will they be age-appropriate Christmas gifts or will they be stuck on a shelf for a few years, waiting for baby to grow into them?
When buying Christmas for an infant or toddler, making sure the gifts purchased are appropriate for the child's age should be first on your list of priorities.
Look at the Labels
There are a wide variety of age-appropriate toys on the market today that are made especially for babies and toddlers. The toys are usually clearly labeled, so make sure to take a look at the package before making any purchases. You might be tempted by Christmas gifts that are super adorable or ones that are very popular.
If the gift is recommended for children ages 3 and up, then you clearly don't want to buy it for an 18-month-old.
Toys that are intended for children older than 3 years of age are usually not safe for younger children due to having small parts that could pose a choking hazard.
If you are in doubt because a package is not clearly labeled, you are usually better off simply passing up that particular toy and looking for something more suitable. Shopping for Christmas gifts is fun for shoppers, and you definitely want to make sure it is fun for your intended gift recipients by giving them something that they can enjoy.
Take Your Time
If possible, begin shopping for Christmas gifts early. If you wait until the last minute, you are more likely to be frazzled from the crowded shopping malls and will be more tempted to just grab something without really looking at it.
In a toy store filled with lots of sights and sounds, it can get rather confusing at times and the safety of a toy may not be the first thing on your mind. Make sure you take your time so you can be sure you're only buying age-appropriate Christmas gifts.
If you have any babies or toddlers to buy for this holiday season, keep in mind age-appropriate Christmas gifts when deciding on what to purchase. Toys that are appropriate for older children are usually not appropriate (or safe) for babies and toddlers. Make sure you read the age guidelines on any toys you buy before buying them so that you always only buy age-appropriate Christmas gifts.
